Sand Piper International School Sports Tour

16 November 2011

The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa hosted students from the Sand Piper International School from Malindi for a sports exchange with the Junior School on Saturday, 15 October 2011.

The visit, which took place during the half term recess, involved friendly matches between the two schools in cricket, rounders and football. A large number of students from the Academy were able to participate in the competition, unlike in normal fixtures where numbers are limited due to the rules.

The boys played a cricket match, which the Aga Khan Academy team won 46 runs to 43. They also played two football matches, both of which went to the Academy, 5-2 and 8-2 respectively.

The Aga Khan Academy girls’ rounders team won their match, 6 ½ to 4 ½ rounders. The girls also played two football matches, sharing the wins between the two schools.

All the students enjoyed participating in the event, which was coordinated by Mr. Anthony from the Academy. Students from both schools demonstrated the highest level of sportsmanship during the competition and made many new friends and connections. The Aga Khan Academy students are looking forward to visiting Sand Piper International School in Malindi in the near future.
