Academy students run for a cause

06 April 2018

The fourth annual Run 4 Cause took place at People’s Plaza, Hyderabad, on Sunday 1st April with 20 Academy students and staff members participating. Run 4 Cause is a fundraiser organised by Street Cause, an NGO run primarily by student volunteers. This year’s donations went toward the development of the Lakyatanda village in Mahabubnagar.

Students left for People’s Plaza in the early hours of Sunday morning but felt energised by the atmosphere at the event. Before the run, Street Cause staged a live rock performance and beatboxing act, which was followed by a zumba session. “We were full of energy and dismissed the dance as just a warm up,” said grade 11 student Preksha Patil. Chief guests of the event were Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Member of Legislative Council and A.K. Khan, advisor to the government on minority welfare.

Run 4 Cause gave the Academy’s nascent running club another chance to test their mettle at a competitive event, led by their mentor Michelle Massaro who helped in coordinating the event. Preksha and grade 11 student Sindhu, who helped organise the Academy students as part of their CAS, were glad for the experience. “This gave us a chance to spend a fruitful time with our friends and help the community at the same time,” they said.
