Celebration of Childhood at the Academy

17 November 2014

Children’s Day was observed on Friday 14 November at the Junior School on a grand scale to make the students feel special. The day began with an assembly conducted by the teachers commemorating Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and his affection for children. It ended with an enthralling fashion parade by the Junior School teachers, which was thoroughly appreciated by the students. They cheered and applauded their teachers who came dressed in vibrant costumes that matched with themes such as East meets West, Recycled, Ethnic and Bollywood.

By popular demand from the students, special swimming sessions were scheduled. Though the weather was chilly, the students enjoyed every moment of their favourite sport.

The day ended with another surprise which awaited teachers and students alike – a professional theatre group was invited to perform a puppet show based on the popular American Classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show was highly entertaining and appreciated by everyone.

In addition to a special lunch with all their favourite food including ice cream, the students were also treated to crisps and chocolates before they left for home. Several students were overheard saying, "This has been the best Children’s Day ever!”
