International Artistic Recognition for Aga Khan Academy Mombasa Student

We are proud to announce that Alyssa’s painting won 5th place overall against 600,000 entries received from around the world. Alyssa Jamal took part in the 20th international children’s painting competition on the environment, organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The theme for the competition was “Life in the Forest.” 

Alyssa’s painting will be exhibited at various places around the world and will be used to develop various publications including posters, t-shirts, and postcards. Also, all the winning paintings will be preserved in the National Research Institute of Humanity and Nature in Kyoto, Japan.

The International Children’s Painting Competition on the environment organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Japan based foundation for global peace and environment (JGPE), Bayer and Nikon Corporation. It has been held since 1991 and has received more than 3 million entries from around the world.
