Grade 1 students learn miming for self-expression at AKA Dhaka
Grade 1 students at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka had a fun-filled session on non-verbal communication and the various methods of self-expression with Mr Vishwajit Shinde, the lead performing arts teacher at the Academy.
Non-verbal communication consists of body language, eye contact, facial expressions and more, which enables individuals to express their emotions.
During the session, Mr Vishwajit introduced the students to the world of miming, which uses gestures, facial expressions and body language to communicate. He also shared illustrative posters with the students to demonstrate how art can be a form of non-verbal communication. The session resonated with the current unit the students are exploring, “People Communicate in Various Ways to Express Feelings and Ideas”.
The students enjoyed the session with Mr Vishwajit, especially learning how to mime.
"It was a great session where we learnt how to mime," said Grade 1 student Mahnoor Karim Khan. “It was fun! Now I can talk to my friends without talking.”
