Grade 2 students learn about signs and symbols with Dr Melita
Grade 2 students at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka had an engaging guest speaker session on the learning unit, “How we express ourselves”, with Dr Melita Mehjabeen, a distinguished professor at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.
The session focused on why we use signs and symbols, with Dr Melita presenting through an engaging slideshow. The session was full of life as the students were curious to learn more about semantics and how we can comprehend our surroundings through signs and symbols.
“The session was very organised and interesting,” said Sayef Uddin, a Grade 2 student. “Ms Melita was friendly and made us laugh. I want to learn more about the signs and symbols and present them to Ms Melita so that we can learn more together.”
The students reflected on the session through a quiz with much enthusiasm. They expressed their feelings toward the speaker by forming a heart with their hands. The session concluded with Dr Melita receiving a painting as a gift from the students.
"They already know about the signs and symbols from their surroundings," Dr Melita said. “The delightful moments I had with them will always inspire me to do more for our future leaders. I wish to have these more often.”
