On 6 February 2023, aspiring author and illustrator Mihika Khan was welcomed by the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka’s Junior School faculty and Grade 3 students. Mihika specialises in children’s books and started writing at a really young age. She finished writing three books by the time she reached 13.
Mihika participated in an interactive Q&A session with the students and responded to their questions about her work. When students asked why her most recent book is called
Shopner Rang (the colours of dreams), she expressed how the book is filled with all the different dreams she had and the stories behind them. Mihika also highlighted that most of her ideas in the books are inspired by dreams and mystical creatures. Students were delighted to receive suggestions on becoming an author in future.
“Ms Mihika shared stories from her life and many ideas for those who want to be an author,” said Grade 3 student Adyan Muhammad Rahman. She also said that we could be authors, which gave us courage.”
Junior School Librarian Ms Zahura Begum was happy to see the excitement of her students during the session.
“Everyone enjoyed the session and almost everyone interacted with the author,” Ms Zahura said. “She sparked much interest among the students to nurture their creative writing skills.”
