Grade 6 students celebrate the cultural icons of Bengal
From 6-10 November, Grade 6 students and teachers of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka organised an exhibition to celebrate the various cultural icons of Bengal. The event allowed students to better understand the contributions of renowned figures, including the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Rabindranath Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Fakir Lalon Shah, Begum Rokeya and more.
Students presented their learning to the faculty members and their peers on the impact these icons had on Bangladesh and Bengali culture, and the ways in which they contributed to the world we live in.
“This exhibition helped me understand the great impact these icons had and how they shaped the world around us,” said Grade 6 student Umayer Bin Alam.
Individual and Societies Teacher Ms Jina Saha said it’s important for the students to understand their culture better.
“The objective of this event is to raise awareness of Bengali culture among our students,” Ms Jina said. “The students gained a deeper insight into what it means to be Bengali and learned to appreciate their culture more.”
