Grade 7 students field trip to a packaging company
Upon arriving at Southtech Packaging and Accessories Limited, the students were greeted by the company’s friendly and knowledgeable staff, who provided a comprehensive tour of the facility. During the tour, students were given the opportunity to observe how the cutting-edge machines at the facility create cuboidal packaging cartons. Students were fascinated to experience the role of technology and innovation in the packaging industry.
“It was remarkable to see how the geometry concepts we’ve been learning in class are actually used in the real world,” said Grade 7 student Afif Ibna Sayed. “The trip has made me even more interested in mathematics and curious about how it can be applied in other industries.”
Manasi Mallick, the lead mathematics teacher, reflected on the significance of creating real-life connections with the topics students learn in the classrooms.
“The trip not only exposed our students to the manufacturing process of cuboidal cartons but also allowed them to see the practical application of geometric concepts they had been learning in class,” Ms Manasi said. “They now have a deeper understanding of the relevance of geometry in their everyday lives and a greater appreciation for the role of technology in shaping the world around them.”
