Meet G.M. Khorshed Alam, transportation and security manager
Major G.M. Khorshed Alam (retired) was born in Chandpur, Bangladesh and is the new transportation and security manager at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. Alam served more than 25 years in the Bangladesh Army. As a member of the special forces, Alam worked as a United Nations peacekeeper in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. After obtaining self-retirement in 2015, he started his career in administrative and security management positions in Dhaka.
Alam said he aspires to achieve the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies by combining his expertise and skills to create a safe and secure place for the students and staff.
“Safety comes first,” Alam said. “I want to create an environment where every member of the Academy’s community feels safe and secure. This is a large campus and we are always aware of any safety-related issues. Hence, we strictly follow our protocols and disciplinary acts.”
Alam said he loves welcoming the staff, faculty members and students at the drop-off points in the morning.
“Every morning is special for me,” Alam said. “I get to welcome everyone at the Academy and greet them with a smile. It is the most amazing feeling ever.”
