Meet Islama Khandoker, KG3 homeroom teacher

Islama Khandoker was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is the KG3 homeroom teacher at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. Islama worked as a teacher at The Aga Khan School, Dhaka, for 10 years before joining the Academy. 

Islama aspires to achieve the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies by raising young leaders who are compassionate, empathetic and responsible. 

“My students will be future leaders; more importantly, they are already developing leadership skills at a young age,” Islama said. “These students take responsibility and apply their learnings to their surroundings. 

Islama said she loves the open spaces at the Academy, which enable her students to interact with nature.  

“The students are not bound to one classroom,” Islama said. “The Academy provides ample spaces for learning to take place outside of the classroom.”
