Meet Shahnaj Khan, Grade 4 homeroom teacher
Shahnaj Khan was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is one of the Grade 4 homeroom teachers at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. Shahnaj has over 19 years of teaching experience and extensive knowledge of pedagogical practices. In addition to teaching at The Aga Khan School, Dhaka, she has also worked as an educator in Australia, where she promoted social, physical, emotional and cognitive development following the principles and practices of Australia's Early Years Learning Framework.
Shahnaj aspires to achieve the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies by adopting a student-centred teaching approach and creating an interactive learning environment that encourages student inquiry and agency.
“By emphasising the Aga Khan Curricular Strands, I aim to assist students in increasing their capacity for independent learning,” Shahnaj said. “I want my students to be future ethical leaders who make the world a better place.”
Shahnaj loves the look and feel of the Academy.
“My favourite things about the Academy are the modern classrooms and the amphitheatre,” Shahnaj said. “Here students can explore and interact with nature.”
