MYP parents experience a day in the life at the Academy
On 22 October, the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka invited Grade 6-8 parents with their children to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Open House event. The event allowed the parents to experience the Academy from their children’s perspective and learn more about a day in their lives at the Academy. The parents had the opportunity to interact with the Academy’s teachers and develop their understanding of the International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP curriculum.
Teachers shared essential insights such as the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies, different learning techniques, criteria for assessments and more. Parents appreciated the initiative as they could clearly see how the students spend their day with different kinds of activities inside and outside of the classrooms as part of their curriculum.
“This is a good initiative taken by the Academy,” said Ms Arifa Hossain, a parent of a Grade 8 student. “I now have a full picture of what my child experiences every day. I also learned much more about the IB curriculum and ways to support my child better.”
Senior School Principal Ms Fahmida Chowdhury expressed her gratitude to the participating parents.
“I am thankful to all the parents who attended our event today,” Ms Fahmida said. “The excitement and happiness among the parents seen throughout the day were truly remarkable.”
