Students perform at the Aga Khan Gold Cup
The theme of the performance was “Mother Nature”, in which the students demonstrated the beauty of nature, reasons for environmental pollution, the impacts of deforestation and eliminating wildlife through a dance drama with a poem. It was followed by a song and dance performance that focused on ways to preserve and protect our world. The song “Perfect Day” was written by Grade 7 student Dootee Oronna. The remarkable display by the students was met with great enthusiasm from the audience. The performers were equally elated with the reception they got.
“It was an amazing experience for us to perform in this event and in front of such a great crowd,” Dootee said. “We were delighted to see the audience’s reaction.”
The performance was coordinated and choreographed by the AKA Dhaka’s Music Teacher Ms Sanchita Saha. She emphasised her role as a teacher to create awareness of environmental issues as part of sustainable development.
“Through music and dance, we can bring positive societal changes,” Ms Sanchita said. “My students put on such a captivating performance that the audience will carry the message back with them.”
