Isla Gordon Joins AKA, Mombasa as the New Principal of the Junior School
She is an accomplished educator who comes to us from the International School of Geneva, where she worked for sixteen years in various capacities. She started out as a classroom teacher, and later also took on Vice Principal responsibilities after a few years in addition to her teaching role.
She then became a full-time PYP Coordinator, recently also filling in for the School Principal, to help develop the Primary Years Programme, including the introduction of a bilingual curriculum in French and English. For the past six years, Isla has had a range of school leadership experience in bringing the PYP to schools all over the world, working with teachers from diverse backgrounds and students throughout the primary years.
Isla has traveled extensively while working with the IB, consulting with candidate schools and evaluating the programme in Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa. She felt that the opportunity to join the AKA, Mombasa community in her capacity as the Junior School Principal allowed her the perfect combination to work in an established organization like the Aga Khan Development Network, while making an impact through education in a developing country.
Isla hopes to continue to nurture the warm environment in the Junior School in order to collaboratively pursue excellence in learning and providing the best possible environment for our students.
Welcome, Isla! We look forward to seeing your vision take shape.
