Workshop on civil society held at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad
The Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (ISMC) hosted a workshop on civil society on 2 and 3 March, at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad.
The workshop comprised of discussions on the challenges faced by civil society in India led by panelists from renowned institutes like JNU, IIT Bombay, University of Dhaka, held at the Academy Building. The discussions were followed by question and answer sessions.
Civil societies are necessary for a functioning democracy and show vitality in the republic. The discussions at the workshop looked at the civil societies from perspectives of caste, justice, equality and others.
The workshop was presided over by Dr David Taylor, head of educational programmes at ISMC. The first night of the workshop comprised of symposium and dinner to welcome the dignitaries.
“I am happy with how the workshop proceeded with the presentations of interesting papers and thought-provoking discussions that followed.” said Dr Heewon Kim from the School of Oriental and African Studies, one of the speakers at the event.
