The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa hosts football tournament

On Saturday June 13, the Academy hosted the sixth annual football tournament for Under 11 and Under 13 boys. The event was very well attended and the enthusiasm was not dampened in any way by the heavy downpour that came towards the end of the group stages.

The U-11 tournament has been won by the B team for the last five years. This year was no exception. After maintaining a 100% unbeaten record in the group stages the boys went on to beat Jaffrey Academy in the semi-finals and Mombasa Academy in the finals, on penalties each time.

Unfortunately the A team were eliminated from the competition in the group stages.

In the U-13 tournament, the B team also reached the final after defeating AKA,Mombasa A in the semi-final. Once again there was no outright winner in the normal duration of time. The final went to a penalty shoot-out once more, but they were unable to beat a strong Jaffrey side and eventually went down 3-1.
