AKA Mombasa hosts the first inter-school chess tournament of the year!
Last weekend, the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa organised an inter-school chess tournament for Junior and Senior School students. The tournament, an invigorating two-day experience saw 44 participants from different schools around Mombasa.
AKA Mombasa organised its first inter-school chess tournament of the year for Junior and Senior School students on 25-26 January 2020. Rahul Doshi (Year 11) was ranked first in the Under 18 category with an astonishing score of 5.5 out of 6 points. Ryan Maina (Year 10) secured the first position in the Under 16 category with a complete score of 6 points.
In the Under 10 category, Ethan Maina (Year 4) and Liam Manyala (Year 4) put up good competition against students from other schools.
AKA Mombasa secured the first position with a clean sweep of 31.5 out of 35 points, followed by Oshwal Academy Mombasa who came a close second with 29.5 points. Kivukoni School was ranked third with 19 points.
As a result, the AKA Mombasa student team were awarded the revolving inter-school chess tournament trophy and the overall winner chess trophy.
