Donating blood to save lives
To celebrate World Donor Day on the 14 of June, the Academy Health and Wellness centre in conjunction with the Aga Khan Hospital set up a blood drive. Students and staff took the opportunity to learn more and donate blood.
“Blood donations are used during surgeries and the treatment of chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries. The demand for blood exceeds the amount donated and I believe that by donating I am doing my part in an individual's treatment and recovery. Knowing that I can help someone by donating something my body replaces automatically makes it a no-brainer,” said SRC president Jonathan Ogutu.
