Green Day Activities
On Friday, 27 November 2015, the Senior School celebrated Green Day, which was marked by various student-led programmes that promoted awareness about the environment.
Head of Academy, Bill O'Hearn, spoke to the students about their role in conserving the environment by coming up with sustainable development solutions and implementing them in order to lead by example. He also reminded the students about how they are the future leaders of this planet and it is thus their responsibility to tackle the issues that are not only affecting us today but will perhaps affect us even more greatly tomorrow.
Throughout the day, students collected recyclable materials such as cardboard, newspaper, plastic bottles, toilet rolls, etc. on campus. They also performed dances and songs, and conducted a quiz about environmental issues. Mr. O'Hearn appreciated the students' efforts in arranging the events for Green Day.
It was an extraordinarly bright day as students were even dressed in shades of green to commemorate the occasion. Click here to see the invigorating hues of green that brightened AKA, Mombasa on Green Day.
