Jessica Kerigo: Our new Academy Fellow
Jessica Kerigo, who is from Mombasa, Kenya, joins the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa as an Academy Fellow. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations & Security Studies with a minor in Psychology from Daystar University and is currently pursuing a Master of International Relations with a specialisation in Human Rights and International Law at Deakin University. Jessica has previously worked as a Camp Counsellor and Ropes Instructor in the USA, Project Assistant for a community initiative with Face of Harvest, and most recently, as a Programme Mentor Intern at International Medical Aid.
Through her role, Jessica hopes to gain new experience as she supports the students by tutoring History and Global Politics and facilitating enrichments such as debates and Model United Nations.
Jessica also said she aims to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy by working all stakeholders to offer students a holistic learning experience. “I plan to prepare the learners for the future by instilling knowledge, ethical values and pluralistic worldviews necessary to create policymakers needed for a sustainable future.”
So far, Jessica’s favourite part about the Academy is the people, who she said she looks forward to working with. “Everyone I’ve met so far has been so welcoming and helpful. I can’t wait to work with all these wonderful and gifted people to enact the mission of the school.”
