Junior School Band’s Christmas Concert Performance
The academy was very privileged to have the band invited by the Presidential Music Commission of Kenya, to participate in a Christmas concert at Mji Wa Salama Children’s Home in Tudor, on Christmas eve. Mji Wa Salama (‘place of safety’ in Swahili) caters to abandoned and orphaned children and was an ideal place to share music and joy with less privileged members of our society. The band members were delighted to be there and gave an impressive rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’.
The members of the band who participated are, Sarah Davis on Keyboard, Shivraj Vaghela and Aika Patel on Flute, Martyn Matiba on Clarinet, Jude Namadoa on Bass Guitar, Karishma Bhagani on Lead Guitar, Oliver Holding-Fay on Saxophone (all in Year 6), Jehan Koorjee on Clarinet (Year 4), Petra Bockle as stand-in Drummer (Year 7) and last but not least, little Cara Wilson-Leckie in Year 1, the band’s illustrious Conductor.
This year the band is looking forward to expand their repertoire and give more public performances.
