In an attempt to try and build on the relationship between the maintenance team and the other members of the school community, the maintenance department has organized an event called “Maintertainment” in the form of a video game competition. The purpose of the game is to simulate the functionality and challenges of the department. It puts the players in a position to make decisions while at the same time, working with the same kind of constraints or challenges as is faced in reality, such as time, money, reputation and priorities. The event will be held in the Commons on Sunday 1st October, from 2pm to 5pm.
There will be 8 teams formed of 4 players each: 6 teams will be student led (Year 6+), 1 for parents and 1 for teachers. These teams will have their game projected on screens for public viewing. Others who wish to participate can do so by bringing in their own laptops. For student groups, these have to be comprised of day and residential students in equal ratio, as well as an equal number of females and males represented.
The registration period ran from the 25th (10am) to the 27th of September (5pm). Registration will require students and teachers to register in person at the temporary maintenance office in the Administration Building. For Parents, the registration can be done via the following email (maintertainment@agakhanacademies.org). Registration will require a team name, names and contact details of the team members, and a funny picture of the group. A maintenance themed picture is a bonus!
We look forward to your support and participation in this fun filled event!
