Meet Antoinette Blaine: Our new Head of Expressive Arts
The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa welcomed new members of staff from around the world for the 2020 - 2021 academic year. Over the next few weeks, profiles of the new staff will be shown, introducing who they are and how they hope to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy.
Antoinette Blaine, who comes from London in the United Kingdom, joins the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa as the Head of Expressive Arts as well as a Teacher Coach for the Arts across the Academies. She has vast experience in international education, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in schools such as the United World College Maastricht in The Netherlands and most recently, the International School of Florence in Italy, where she was the Vice Principal for Learning.
Through her position, Antoinette aims to build upon the work the Arts team in Mombasa has been doing, as well as liaise with the Expressive Arts departments across the Academies. In addition, she also hopes to support AKA Maputo through their first Middle Years Programme eportfolio and the opening of their Arts Diploma Programme course.
“Working directly to develop creativity and creative thinking is another interest of mine, including how we can make the most creative and inspiring use of the spaces and facilities we have on campus,” Antoinette said.
Antoinette plans to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy by making sure that everything taught in the Arts embodies the principles and values of the school.
Antoinette’s favourite part about the Academy is the outstanding campus with the scenic views of the Indian Ocean.
