Meet Gideon Ondieki
The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa welcomed 22 new staff members from around the world to its community for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. Throughout the next few weeks, profiles of the new staff will be shown, introducing who they are and how they want to bring change to the Academy.
Gideon Ondieki, Events & Operations Coordinator
Gideon Ondieki was born and raised in Kenya is the new events & operations coordinator for the Academy. Gideon previously worked as a training manager for two years, a hospital support services manager for two years, a head of department and tutor in a hospitality training institution, and three years as hotel staff.
Through his position, Gideon said he hopes to be organized in his position so that the events around the Academy can be done properly and without any hassle.
“One of my greatest and proudest accomplishments to achieve this year is being able to successfully plan and execute a school calendar with major events so everything can run smoothly within an expected timeline,” Gideon said.
Because of the various people Gideon will work with from outside of the Academy, Gideon said he wants to fully grasp the meaning behind the mission and vision of the Academy so he can have others understand and appreciate it as well.
“My most important responsibility is to uphold the vision and mission of the institution and invite others to share in its development,” Gideon said. “I need to have great insight and understand what this organisation values, believes in and hopes to be and assist it in achieving the same.”
Gideon said this can all be done with the colleagues he works with, who have helped him settle into his position.
“My favourite part of the Academy is the great team I have who are willing to assist me and who want to learn from each other,” Gideon said.
