Siblings recognised by Assistant High Commissioner of India for Kenya for singing performance
On 17 November, Azmat Amarshi, year 9, and Karam Amarshi, year 8, performed at the Children’s Day Function hosted by the Tamil Cultural Association. At the event the siblings were awarded participation certificates by the Assistant High Commissioner of India for Kenya, Mr Shyam Sunder Devani.
Azmat and Karam have been singing since they were four or five years old, and have performed at various events. The two have also participated at the Kenya Music Festival finals and take the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams, where Azmat received a distinction last year and was invited to the high-scorers concert in Nairobi.
“I love singing,” Karam said. “Music is very relaxing and I listen to all kinds of music. For the future, I would also like to learn to play an instrument.”
