Social Committee Movie Night Raises Funds for Chemotherapy Patient

On Thursday, January 15th the Social Committee of the Academy hosted a movie evening to enable the students of the school to raise funds to support their Music teacher who is battling with throat cancer.

A packed house meant that over 20,000 KSH was raised, sufficient for Sammy to travel to the hospital in Tanzania where he will be receiving his next session of chemotherapy. Pictured are Jacqueline McMurray and Azina Jiwa, Committee members, presenting Sammy with the donation to support him in the coming weeks.

The Social Committee intend to repeat the movie night for the Senior School shortly as it is believed that the teacher will require at least one more session of chemotherapy. Sammy, who teaches drums at the Academy, is hopeful to return to work in April.

The community and all of us at the Academy wish him a speedy recovery.
