Some impressive results at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa

The summer saw the IB and IGCSE results being issued with many anxious young people waiting for the piece of paper that would determine the next steps in their educational careers. The Academy is proud to summarise just some of the successes those results enjoyed.

In the International Baccalaureate Diploma, an astonishing 42% of final subject grades were either 7 or 6. (11% were 7). 96% of subject grades were pass grades. Two students scored 43 points out of a maximum of 45.

In IGCSE's, the Academy increased the number of A*s achieved in all subjects from 35 in June 2007 to an impressive 93 in 2008. 82% of all subjects achieved between the A* and C range. One student achieved an amazing 9A*'s and one A out of his ten subjects, and five other students achieved totals of nine A*'s or A's.

Graduating students are now preparing for their move to colleges in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Australia. Sheliza Darvesh obtained one of only two African (full) scholarships for the University College London to study Medicine and several other students received generous scholarships. Taher Ezzi was accepted to Stanford University in California.
