Visit from the University of Nottingham

One of the key values the Academy instills in its students is a thirst for lifelong learning. Through the implementation of its globally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, the school aspires to produce graduates who have a strong capacity and desire to learn. To that end, the Academy frequently invites representatives of universities to meet with the students to discuss their future education options.

This week, Ms Emily Cowley, a representative from the University of Nottingham UK, gave a presentation to the diploma students. The University of Nottingham offers a small number of scholarships that can be of interest to the diploma students. One of them is the IB Undergraduate High Achiever Scholarship. Scholarships of £2,000 are available for high-achieving international IB students registering for Undergraduate Degree programmes at the University of Nottingham in September 2009. It is for any subject area other than Medicine and Veterinary Science.

The Times Higher World Rankings in 2008 place Nottingham in the Top 1% of all universities worldwide. The institution is now firmly established within the world’s 100 best universities from a number of sources. The Sunday Times league table also places Nottingham 8th amongst British universities, based on consistent performance over a ten year period. It’s Good University Guide 2009 describes the university as “always knocking on the door of our elite top 10, a place to study at Nottingham remains among the most sought-after in higher education. Teaching and research excellence spans all disciplines with only Cambridge and Manchester boasting more than Nottingham’s 33 top-rated teaching subjects.”
