Year 7 Students try their hand at sandwich making!

Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa’s Year 7 students are engaged in their guiding question; How can I use my food preparation skills to help the community?

They each have to design their own sandwich and come up with an original name. A price label will then be prepared and the funds raised used to buy school supplies for a local orphanage.

Most of these children are first-timers in the kitchen and this is a basic introduction to food safety/hygiene and also the correct uses of kitchen equipment (slicing tomatoes, onions and creating a filling for their sandwiches).
