Living on Campus
Residential life at the Academy complements and extends the academic experience. Our residential programme includes a broad selection of activities and leadership opportunities to enhance students’ learning and growth.
The Academy’s residences include facilities to accommodate both students and teachers. Our residences house boarding students requiring accommodation as well as those participating in international exchanges between the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka and other Academies and schools.
Teachers' quarters on campus house both resident and visiting faculty.
Learning beyond the classroom
Our residential programme is about the learning and growth that comes through constant interaction with a diverse and talented group of teachers and peers.
Mealtimes and other gatherings provide our residential students with opportunities for informal interaction as well as for discussions, meetings, language tables and study groups.
The focus of the residential experience is on students’ intellectual, social, spiritual and physical growth in a structured and ethical environment. Many of the least tangible but most important elements of an education – the development of practical leadership skills, the capacity to make ethical judgments, the ability to navigate through complex cultural settings – are formed outside the classroom.
The safe and secure environment of the Academy’s boarding facilities gives students of all backgrounds the opportunity to thrive emotionally, intellectually and physically.
Video: AKA Hyderabad Class of 2019 Graduation Ceremony
74 students of the Class of 2019 concluded their International Baccalaureate journey at the Academy with a formal evening ceremony on Saturday 25th May attended by fellow students, alumni, Academy senior management, faculty and staff as well as parents, extended families and invited guests. These students join a growing legacy of global young leaders, driven by the Academy’s unique curriculum and approach to education. The graduation marks a proud milestone of 1,000 such leaders across both the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad and its sister school, the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa (Kenya).
Leadership in Action – Year 9
Each form group in year 9 was designated a year 5 or 6 group in their respective house. The newly formed groups then participated in team building exercises such as sports, quizzes and even a treasure hunt. The students seemed to greatly enjoy the activities and the result of the experience was very positive. Therefore, we hope to have more interschool activities of this nature to follow.

Sporting Activities
One of the goals of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka is to create principled young people with a strong sense of integrity, honesty, fairness and justice, who respect the dignity of others.
Physical education, and competitive games and sports prepare our students for real-life situations, encouraging them to take leadership roles and allowing them to tackle challenges confidently and in a spirit of cooperation.
Inter-school sports
Both Junior and Senior School students have the opportunity to represent their school in various sports, such as swimming, basketball, cricket, hockey, football, and athletics.
Our teams train regularly during the week and cater to students of all ability levels.
Clubs
We offer a diverse selection of sporting activities for our students during after school clubs.
Clubs are currently offered in football, squash, basketball, cricket, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and yoga/gym.

Enrichment Programme
Enrichment programmes enable students to realise their potential in a variety of settings beyond the classroom. Students develop a sense of self-awareness and an understanding of school and community needs and opportunities. They also learn how to apply their gifts and skills to make a positive impact.
At the Academy, we believe in a balanced, rounded, comprehensive school experience. As this includes both academic and co-curricular experiences, we encourage our students to do their best both in and outside the classroom.
We will offer outstanding sports facilities that will include swimming and diving pools and playing fields for a wide variety of sports and athletics.
Children with special sporting gifts will be encouraged to develop their talents in every way. Children with special gifts in music, art or drama will similarly be encouraged through opportunities to practise and perform while at the Academy.
Our enrichment programmes are clustered into three main streams, each with a different focus:
Expression
Whether through visual or performing arts, this cluster engages students to think creatively and express their identities and thoughts aesthetically. Through theatre, art, music and drama, students learn to work together and infuse their projects with values and lessons from other parts of their schooling. Individual and collaborative creative projects emphasise growth and development through personal challenge, ultimately resulting in achievable personal goals.
Action
The student as a reflective practitioner is a basic tenet of the action cluster. Through physical sport, both competitive and non-competitive, students are challenged in their physical growth, and learn values such as good sportsmanship, teamwork and ethical behaviour. We encourage them to extend themselves by trying different activities and working with teammates to pass on their knowledge. In line with developing the student as a whole, a healthy lifestyle complements and enhances academic achievement.
Citizenship
At the Academy, we encourage knowledge and understanding of humanity and civil society. Through their involvement in citizenship activities, students gain an understanding of the practical implications of their work and study. By collaborating with community groups on sustainable projects, they develop an appreciation for human rights, human dignity and of how their actions impact the world around them.
