Academy careers season in full swing
Twenty-four universities from the USA, Canada and India have visited the Academy since the beginning of this academic year. At the third 2016-17 Academy university fair on 1 September 2016, three Canadian universities kicked off their session with a brief presentation on the benefits of studying in Canada. Canada’s emergence in the international sphere has piqued the interest of students looking for alternatives for studying abroad.
The Aga Khan Development Network's presence in Canada has given rise to a fruitful partnership with the Government of Ontario that accords 10 students each year from the Aga Khan Academies a tuition waiver for all four years of their college careers. This was initiated to promote opportunities for Academy graduates to obtain an exceptional Ontario post-secondary education, an education that is consistent with the standards, values, and principles of the Aga Khan Academies. For a duration of three years, 10 need-based, full-tuition waivers will be awarded annually to exceptional students from the the Aga Khan Academies network at any Ontario higher education institution.
Indian universities Mahindra Ecole Centrale, Ashoka University and the Indian School of Business and Finance also attended. All are pioneers in establishing India’s presence in global higher education. The provision of holistic education in India opens up new options to students who wish to stay in India for their first degrees.
These university representatives touched upon relevant facets of their colleges including the provision of state-of-the-art facilities, highly qualified faculty, a diverse student body, as well as career opportunities available after graduation, both nationally and internationally.
