Academy's milestone: Classes begin in the contemporary academic building
The vast, expansive campus of the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad is a serene, purposeful and enticing environment to be a part of. One particular building within the Academy that underwent a renovation is the Nursery Building.
On 8 November, the repurposed Nursery Building was inaugurated as a dedicated space for additional Senior School classrooms. The space was previously used by the Green Club to carry out their projects, the cycling team to store their equipment and the Academy to grow an array of flowers, decking up the area in vibrant colours. It was also an ideal place for the experiential learning clubs to host team-building activities and was the meeting hub for the Academy’s stomping group, the Beaten Band. It was a place for creativity, sustainability and innovation.
The building’s new state-of-the-art rendition serves as the new hub for the English department, hosting the majority of Diploma Programme and Middle Years Programme classes. Besides English classes, the space also accommodates theory of knowledge (ToK) lessons.
As the number of students at the Academy has increased over the past few years, the need for additional classrooms was vital to ensure effective learning. There are currently four functional classrooms within the building, with two more being revamped, and are expected to be operational soon. With a contemporary classroom setup, each spacious room is re-painted and equipped with the latest IT equipment and modular furniture: chairs, tables, whiteboards, soft boards, etc., all of which are essential to support an effective learning environment.
This new building at the Academy in Hyderabad is a significant step in the Academy’s development as it continues to foster a conducive learning environment, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.
