AKA, Hyderabad Hosts the FC Barcelona Escola Football Camp
The enthusiasm and passion of Hyderabad’s young footballers were clearly visible during the football camp that was held in collaboration with FC Barcelona at the Academy in Hyderabad. These camps are part of a continued effort to teach new methodologies to India’s football-loving kids aged between 6–17.
Over 100 students from 10 different schools across Hyderabad attended the five-day camp where they were taught the "Barça" style and were coached in improving their game intelligence and technical precision. It was not just about playing football but also about creating seamless communication between players and instilling in them a sense of sportsmanship that will last a lifetime. Specific activities were also offered to help develop the mental toughness necessary to succeed in football and, indeed, in life.
One Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad student, Safa Lakhani (Grade 5A) who attended the camp spoke about the coaching sessions where they were “taught all about peripheral vision...body and space positions, and how to make quick decisions." He added, “This learning will also be useful in my day-to-day life. This camp has also made me a better footballer in different areas and improved my skills.”
