AKA Hyderabad hosts PYP network sports fest for the first time
260 students representing seven IB PYP schools from Hyderabad took part in the 8th network athletics meet on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th January 2019 at the Academy.
Indus International School, Oakridge International School, Focus High School, Meridian School, Silver Oaks International School, the Gaudium School and AKA Hyderabad sent their best girl and boy athletes to participate in the 2019 inter-school meet that took place over two days on the sports fields at the Academy. There were shot put, long jump and multiple racing and field track events on the agenda.
At the opening ceremony on Thursday morning, Academy Junior School Principal Sreelatha Kumar spoke about the spirit of sportsmanship, accepting victory with humility, and learning to lose with grace. She also cautioned the young athletes to treat their fellow competitors with respect, politeness and empathy. “Sometimes things might not go in your favour and you might consider the outcome unfair, but always make sure you have been fair and done your best,” she said. Finally, she congratulated the Head of Sports, Ravi Kumar, and his team who had worked tirelessly over the previous few weeks to make this event successful and smooth.
