Careers season takes off with US University Fair
The Academy hosted 11 North American universities last week with our careers partner, KIC UnivAssist, in our first University Fair for 2016-17 careers season. 170 Diploma students and more than 20 Senior School parents attended the afternoon event, featuring interactive sessions on emerging careers and personalized university introductions.
Dedicated student counselling sessions followed with all the Admission Officers. Students were able to clarify each university’s unique offerings in terms of application and acceptance protocols, academic rankings, programs offered and scholarship options.
According to Founder and Chief Mentor of KIC UnivAssist, Ganesh Kohli, 15 of the top 25 universities in the world are in the US. The US has the largest and most comprehensive educational system, specifically with regard to creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Ganesh stressed that graduating students should aspire for careers that are driven by their passion. “The careers landscape is drastically different from what it was two decades ago, and is constantly changing. Subjects don’t exist in isolation – careers exist at intersections today. Explore the magic of careers through some of the things you’re studying at the academy,” he urged.
These 11 universities represented a good mix of large and well-established public institutions along with small, top ranking liberal arts colleges. University representatives were impressed with the quality of questions that came from our IB Diploma students, expressing that they were “well thought out and articulated”. We are proud to share that they considered their trip to The Academy “the best school visit” during their 5-city, 25-school tour of India.
