First Academy Cultural Fest – celebrating pluralism and diversity
Cultural performances from various parts of the world lit up the amphitheatre on the evening of Saturday 2nd December 2017. Grade 11 students organised the event to provide opportunities to showcase the diversity of the Academy’s student and staff community. Performances included songs and dances from different parts of India, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Zambia.
“It was an honor for me to host the first ever Cultural Fest and watch it end successfully,” remarked Anusha Oza, one of the chief organisers. “Towards the end of the night, we had a small celebration celebrating His Highness the Aga Khan’s 81st birthday. We, as the students of the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad are proud to be a part of this diverse community. The richness of the Academy lies in its diversity, and its culture is to express and celebrate that diversity.”
The Cultural Fest was a tribute to the Academy’s mission of raising pluralistic leaders who are culturally rooted and globally-minded at the same time. All residential students came dressed in traditional wear and the performances were followed by a special lawn dinner.
