Grandparents visit the Academy!
The Academy admissions team hosted 55 senior citizens from Secunderabad last Thursday. The event was organized by the Learning Resource Centre that works for the welfare of senior or retired individuals from within Hyderabad. This was one of our first ‘big’ grandparents’ events at the Academy!
Head of Academy Dr. Geoffrey Fisher kicked off the event with an introduction to our vision, mission and philosophy. He explained how the network of Academies is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of independent agencies, institutions and programmes located in Asia and Africa. The AKDN aspires to improve the quality of life of those in need, and help them achieve a level of self-reliance. The Academy is one part of the AKDN vision in action, and through providing world-class education for gifted and deserving children, it works towards larger community development.
After morning tea, grandparents were split into groups and walked around the campus for an informal tour. Several of them showed their happiness at seeing the school busy and alive with its growing student numbers. Those with grandchildren studying at the Academy expressed their pride and satisfaction with the facilities and atmosphere.
