Join our Virtual Open Days!
The Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad hosted two Virtual Open Days on the 28th of November and 5th of December. The first of these events was dedicated to the Primary Years Programme and was hosted by the Dean of Admissions, Arjun Puri, and was attended by Dr Jonathan Long (HOA), Mrs. Sreelatha Kumar (Principal, Junior School) and Mr. Abhimanyu Das Gupta (PYP Coordinator). We invited 4 students from DP2 who are currently engaged in a one-year internship programme with the Admissions Office and the Communications Office. The PYP event ran for 75 minutes, where the first 30 minutes were utilized to showcase the campus virtual tour titled, “Our Academy Through Our Eyes”. Post the video being shared, we hosted a Q&A session with the prospective students and their families. The entire thinking behind creating an event like this was to create a personalized approach for admissions and that is why we kept the audience to a limited/pre-decided number. We had 17 families attend this event.
The second Virtual Open Day was dedicated to the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. Again, we decided to limit the audience to 20 families but were oversubscribed. We hosted 28 families this time around and the event ran for over 90 minutes with several questions being asked of our leadership team that included, Dr Long and Arjun (they were part of both sessions), Mrs. Koel Ray (Principal, Senior School) and Mrs. Meenakshi Joshi (MYP Coordinator). Along with the members of staff, we invited 2 students from DP2 and 2 students from DP1. Their active participation was greatly appreciated by the families that joined us. Hearing from the students directly was a big advantage.
The inspiration behind this video was to showcase our vision, our people and our campus. This was a leap of faith, a labor of love. There were several challenges faced in order to film and edit this video (campus tour) without using professional services of camera crews and editors. The film was conceptualized and scripted by Arjun, filmed on an iPhone by a DP2 student and Tara, edited by another student in DP2 and then watched several times by a core team to ensure we had captured what we wanted! Constant teamwork ensured that we were all giving our best to this project!
Since the last event on the 5th of December, we have received regular requests from other families to accommodate them for a Virtual Open Day. And, we do plan to host events in February and March, May and June! Please click here to express an interest in our upcoming Virtual Open Days.
