Junior School Parent Information Afternoon

In an attempt to foster a better understanding of the PYP (Primary Years Programme) curriculum and to increase parent involvement in the education of their children, we have been conducting information sessions for parents every year.

We have tried out various formats and this year we ran this event "workshop" style. Based on a survey of interest and requirements, we enrolled parents into four sessions: Assessment, Maths, Reading and Writing, and Inquiry.

It was encouraging to see parents turn up on time with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn, thereby demonstrating the attribute of being lifelong learners. They got the opportunity to be students and participated with enthusiasm.

The response from the participants was overwhelming and heartening. We were also grateful to receive some constructive feedback, which will help us to reflect on and improve our teaching and learning environment at the Junior School.
