Meet Lavanya Vadavalli: Our new PYP teacher
Lavanya joins the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad as a PYP teacher. A software professional turned PYP enthusiast, she has worked internationally for five years fostering a passion for bringing authentic and relevant inquiry-based learning into the classroom.
She earned her Master’s degree from Swinburne University, Australia and has since taught in international schools in Singapore and India. Her family lived in Australia and Singapore over the last 10 years before deciding to return to India (Vijayawada) 3 years ago.
When reflecting on what drew her towards the Academy, she says in addition to being an IB continuum school that lives the spirit of the IB mission, what really drew her to the Academy is the inclusive nature that welcomes deserving students from all backgrounds and the strong culture of service to the community. She believes this aligns perfectly with her personal philosophy of doing her bit to create a more equitable and harmonious world
She is passionate about fostering creativity and the natural curiosity of children never ceases to amaze her and she is grateful to be a part of their journey of exploration. She aims to create empathetic learners who use their knowledge and skills to make decisions with integrity and honesty, actively seeking opportunities to make the world a happy place for a larger community. Harnessing a learning space that is safe and caring as well as intellectually stimulating, she hopes to nourish a community of learners who strive forward to achieve their personal best.
In my free time, I love to read (mostly children’s literature), cook, bake, go for nature walks and spend time with my family. I believe ‘Life is beautiful and every precious minute must be spent living it to the fullest.’
