Meet the Teachers Day
AKA, Hyderabad parents turned out in great numbers to meet their children’s PYP teachers on Saturday, 30 August.
Many mothers and fathers – of new students in particular – gathered in the Commons for an introductory video by Dr Geoffrey Fisher, the Head of Academy. This was followed by an introduction of teachers and a talk from Ms Sreelatha Kumar, the Principal of the Junior School.
Both leaders emphasised the importance of parents, teachers and school staff working together to develop students into becoming the leaders of the future.
Ms Latha went on to discuss some of the AKA, Hyderabad PYP highlights and preview some of the exciting things coming up this school year. She also discussed some of the changes, including the unveiling of the new junior library and encouraged parents to pay a visit to this impressive facility.
Ms Latha urged parents to take an active interest in their children’s education because they and the AKA, Hyderabad family are partners in realising His Highness’s vision.
PYP Co-ordinator Ms Archana then took the microphone and presented an impressive visual display to provide parents with a good overview of the IB. She stressed that students are at the centre of learning and their teachers are facilitators, there to assist children to locate and sift information and find answers. Ms Archana then showed a video in which students spoke about their AKA, Hyderabad experience.
After a morning tea break, it was time for the Form Teachers to take the parents to the classrooms where they had an opportunity to see the physical spaces in which their children learn and hear from the teachers who are facilitating their learning. Parents also had a chance to ask many questions.
It was a most successful “Meet the Teachers Day.” Thank you to all who participated.
