Students work to fund Mobile Animal Ambulance
Have you ever been so helpless that even when you asked for help others didn’t understand? Have you ever been abused so harshly that you couldn’t move a limb and couldn’t seek for any form of help? Imagine if someone beat you up and left you, imagine if you couldn’t make someone understand the pain you are going through currently and you couldn’t ask for help even if you tried. The appalling number of animal cruelty cases is just the tip of the spear, most of them aren’t even reported. When normal crimes take place, the state or federal agencies take note of such crimes, but in case of animal violence such crimes are not compiled by the authorities and hence it makes it difficult to estimate just how common animal abuse is.
Twenty students from grade 9 & 10 including me have been working on a campaign around the clock to support victims of animal abuse. The purpose behind this campaign was to provide assistance and help the helpless stray animals whose livelihood has been majorly violated. We are trying to bring a change into in the society, for the betterment of animal lives by raising money through a crowdfunding project in collaboration with Uplift Connect, Give India and Blue Cross of India.
It is very common that the cattle on the streets end up consuming plastic which causes indigestion, suffocation or a similar disease. The money raised will help the volunteers provide provisions to perform surgeries to remove the plastic. Moreover, surgeries on cats and dogs will be performed to treat diseases like maggot infestation and tumours that could be detrimental for the animals. Not only that, but the money raised will be also used to create a Mobile Animal Ambulance vehicle with basic equipment which will further enable veterinary doctors to reach out to various places to provide spontaneous treatments, spontaneous treatment will also assist in decreasing stress and suffering that the animals face.
Dean of Students, Mr Suresh Madhavan joined us on a Zoom call to inspire and give guidance to the volunteers. After the Zoom call, the volunteers were filled with new energy and they had been motivated and inspired by Mr Suresh’s words to do better which was visible through their bright smiles. This campaign has impacted the volunteers by making them ethical leaders and change markers, this will also lead to a positive environment in the academy.
