Water polo league launched at the Academy!
From organizing sports competitions to debating in MUNs, Academy students have managed to give their best to making different events successful. Last semester, we added one more aspect in which the school could excel in. A sport of fruitful experience and plenty of enjoyment: water polo!
We began by introducing students from grades 7-11 to the sport and explaining how it was played. Not many had even heard of it. But it caught on rapidly and the charm of water polo spread fast.
The league was an inter-house competition where the houses of Kakatiya, Maurya, Nizam, and Pandya participated. Players were given an opportunity to make their house stand above others and prove their grandeur by winning the league. They also shared a new set of experiences that included chances to demonstrate leadership, teamwork, coordination and sportsmanship.
Pandya house emerged as the victor after a series of fruitful and thrilling matches. As expected the participants played exceptionally well and gave in their 100% efforts to achieve victory. Pandya took the trophy this time but other houses are eagerly awaiting the second season that will take place this semester.
Raunak Mawani who scored 13 goals was awarded Man of the Series, while Best Defender of the Tournament went to Varshik Korrapati who guarded the goal like a beast.
All in all, the league turned out to be a success and we were appreciated by Mr. Ravi, head of the sports department. After all, despite the challenges and obstacles, we were satisfied and happy. We thank Mr. Suresh and Mr. Ravi for supporting us and especially thank our swimming coach, Mr. Surendra and CAS coordinator Mr. Venkat for making it possible!
