Workshop on Delivering the IB MYP Programme
A workshop was held at the Academy on 7 and 8 January on delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme. It was attended by the Head of School, Mr. John Puddefoot; the Senior School Principal, Mr. Raymond Zinsli; Coordinators; teachers and some members of the admin staff. The workshop leader was Todd Richer, currently the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator at Vientiane International School in Laos. He has been involved with a number of IB initiatives such as ATL (approaches to teaching and learning) in the Diploma Programme and Personal Project Moderator.
The workshop aims were as follows:
- Understanding the Middle Years Programme
- Understanding approaches to teaching and learning (ATL)
- Understanding well-designed assessment tasks
- Designing effective learning engagements
It was an extremely engaging workshop, especially the sections on IB pedagogy and curriculum design. There were interesting discussions on three-dimensional curricula and inquiry-based teaching and learning. There were also engaging discussions on international-mindedness.
