AKA Maputo hosts inter-school football tournament
On Saturday, 29 April, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo organised and hosted an inter-school football tournament for students from the Academy, a Trichardt School and the Escola Primária da Matola C.
The students were divided into under-9 and under-11 boys’ and girls’ teams, with all students playing with lots of energy. From the Academy, Grade 2 student Keira Vilanculos and Grade 4 student Kwicia Nchumali scored for the girls’ team. Additionally, Grade 2 student Tinotenda Makoromu, Grade 5 students Lionel Paunde and Noan Dlate scored for the boys’ team.
Although the Academy won third place, the students were happy to exchange experiences with their peers from neighbouring schools.
“This tournament was organised to allow students from local and international schools to have an interchange and share experiences,” said PE Teacher Simão Mathe. “It served as a platform where the schools could strengthen ties and think about future events.”
The students were also happy, and they understood the importance of teamwork.
“The tournament was great because we were competitive, and people could learn from our mistakes,’’ Noan said.
Congratulations to all the teams who participated, and a big thank you to the Junior School staff, parents and residential students for their support!
