Ambassador of East Timor visits the Aga Khan Academy Maputo
During the visit, H.E. Mr Branco and Mr Roy engaged in discussions about the quality of teaching and promoting education. They also shared concerns on how the disparity in technological resources will exasperate the educational gap between students of different backgrounds. Following the meeting, H.E. Mr Branco and his delegation received a tour of the campus and its state-of-the-art facilities.
H.E. Mr Branco enjoyed interacting with the Academy’s faculty members, staff and students, particularly listening to the students reading within the Junior School library.
“We are honoured to have Ambassador Branco here at the campus,” Mr Roy said. “It was interesting to hear a little of his personal history, particularly about the 1999 East Timorese crisis when his country was engulfed in conflict. I shall ask him to return to the Academy to share his stories and thoughts about global politics with our students.”
“After observing the quality of this Academy on site, you'd think you were on a different planet to the one we live on,” H.E. Mr Branco wrote in the Academy’s guestbook. “It's a school of excellence, educating the future leaders of the world.”
