Ambassador of the United States to Mozambique visits the Aga Khan Academy Maputo
On 15 November, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo welcomed His Excellency Mr Peter H. Vrooman, Ambassador of the United States to Mozambique and his delegation. The guests were accompanied by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Mozambique Representative Adjunct Rui Carimo and welcomed by the Head of Academy Roy White.
Invited to learn about AKDN as well as the Academy, H.E. Mr Vrooman joined Mr Roy in a meeting with Mr Carimo to briefly present AKDN’s mission, values and presence in Mozambique. Following the meeting, H.E. Mr Vrooman and his delegation met Diploma Programme global politics students, with whom they engaged in an interactive discussion on a number of topics, such as humanitarian assistance, foreign policies and more.
“Our aim is to help our students better understand the role of embassies around the world and the work of the US embassy here in Mozambique in particular,” Mr Roy said.
H.E. Mr Vrooman enjoyed interacting with the Academy’s staff and students, particularly answering the questions from the students.
“Thank you for this opportunity to engage with you on a fascinating array of topics,” H.E. Mr Vrooman wrote in the Academy’s guestbook. “I look forward to further collaboration.”
