Architecture students from ISCTEM visit the Aga Khan Academy Maputo
On Thursday, 17 August 2023, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo welcomed 39 architecture students from the Instituto Superior de Ciências e Tecnologia de Moçambique (ISCTEM), who were on a field trip to view the Academy’s facilities to gather data for their faculty projects. The Academy was chosen by ISCTEM as an example of a complex architectural project using modern facilities.
During the visit, the students were accompanied by their professor, João Athayde de Melo, and they all received a tour of the 22.5-hectare campus and its state-of-the-art facilities. Meanwhile, they also interacted with the Academy’s faculty members and staff.
Mr Melo praised the Academy’s modern and practical buildings and preservation of green spaces.
“I am impressed with the architecture of this campus,” Mr Melo said.“As an architect, this campus is like an open book and a source of inspiration for any architecture student.”
The students from ISCTEM were not only impressed by the Academy’s campus, but also with the Aga Khan Academies Learner Profile.
"[This] is a school that focuses on students' needs,” said Leonel Domingos, a third-year architecture student at ISCTEM.
At the end of the visit, Mr Melo left his impressions of the Academy.
"The visit was fantastic and highly enriching for the students, particularly,” Mr Melo said. “I'm confident that it will have a lasting impact on their future endeavours.”
