Assessment Workshops
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the assessment workshop for parents on Thursday 13th March 2014.
The aim of the workshop was to explore and understand the following areas;
- What is assessment
- Why do we assess
- How do we assess
- What assessment tools we use
- What do we do with our assessment results
The workshop was divided into two parts: the first half was in the form of a participatory workshop; and the second, an information session.
It was a real pleasure to see so many parents engage with the activities and discuss the concepts which led to a deeper understanding of the process of assessment and the different tools we use to evaluate students in the Academy. It was also an ideal opportunity for us to inform parents about the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) standardised assessments from the University of Durham that we will be piloting in the coming weeks in the Academy.
Following the presentation there was a cocktail event where we had an opportunity to continue the discussion on the issues raised during the course of the presentation.
Thank you to all parents for your continued support and should you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
